Video that is down loaded opens up black and not recoverable

while recording on a Pearl 2 in a 1920x1080 30 fps 4000bit rate and Codec H.264 with audio being ACC 44khz stereo and 320kbps with a total record time at 4:16:30. when file trans’d to a PC was corrupted. the HD was not fully emptied at the time. would the resulting loss in video playback when put into VLC to check the recording and showing it as a blank or corrupt file be the reason why? i know in the back up Pearl 2 it was broken down into 15 smaller videos that were not corrupted and HD was blank. and could only be strung back together as one big video file with being put into iMovie and made to be a .mov file so it was exported in Pro Res and it played, anything less than that the low, mid, or high res would result in a video that could not be played on a mac and due to trying in high res selection in iMovie and produced in a .mp4 format and saved with the file .mp4.sb- followed by two sets of alpha numeric coding. next time im making sure HD’s are blank before recording at the listed parameters listed above.
