Stand Alone VGA Grid Recordings not adhering to time or size limits. Each channel is configured to record AVI for 20 minutes or 2 GB, but when recording, the time and/or size of the files is varied. One file may be 1m 8s; another may be 10s; another may be 50s, etc. None of the files is at the 2 GB limit. Trying to figure out why this is happening.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us, I’m sorry you’re running into this issue with your Standalone VGA Grid! Although the VGA Grid has been discontinued for some time, I’ll do my best to help provide support. What you’re describing sounds like it may be related to a specific setting within the Encoding section for your Channels, specifically the ‘Use current signal resolution as frame size’.
When this option is enabled any changes to the video signal might results in the encoding pipeline being restarted, which results in the current recorded file being closed and a new one opened. You might see this sort of behavior if the VGA Grid was capturing from a video switcher and the switcher changed to a different input for example.
I would recommend checking to see if that option has been enabled, and try disabling it if it’s currently enabled. Please let me know if this resolves the issue you’re seeing. You can also contact us by email at support@epiphan.com, if you’d like!
