I saw the update which allows 4K recording. Will there be an update to allow 2 HD recordings at the same time. I guess technically if I make a layout with 2 side by side HD sources and record it in 4K, I can split/crop it in editing to get 2 HD videos.
Post-production cropping from a 4K source would certainly be possible, however Pearl Nano is a single-channel encoder. For 2-3 channel encoding (depending on your configuration) you would need to consider Pearl Mini, or adding an additional Pearl Nano into your use case requirement
I have a Pearl Mini and do use it when I need multi-channel.
So to expand on my first comment, in 4K recording do I still get to use both SDI and HDMI inputs simultaneously?
What I want to do is have a 1080HD SDI source and a 1080HD HDMI source in a side-by-side channel and record it in 4K.
My plan is to then crop each source for editing later in a HD timeline.
