can I use the video out from the LiveScrypt box as an overlay for a video channel in one of the Pearl devices? i.e. captions superimposed on a video stream of the people speaking those words.

Absolutely! We were using this exact setup between a Livescrypt and Pearl Mini at ISE in Amsterdam in February. We resized the video source (without maintaining aspect ratio) to create an active text lower third on a Pearl Mini Channel!
That’s great! So is the Pearl taking in the captions as a video stream and then chromakeying or is it a cropped overlay? I’m guessing it’s an overlay since that would just be a form of PIP.
Also, I couldn’t see which languages the LiveScrypt will handle? Thanks!
You are correct that it would be a video overlay. The HDMI output from Livescrypt is an actual video source output. Once the Livescrypt event is complete, for the Livescrypt side you will have access to download an SRT or TXT file, but this would not be applicable to a live event on Pearl itself
