Though the Pearl and and the Notebook are conntected to the internet, the in-build firmware upgrade does not function as expected. Epiphan had just announced the new firmware 4.4. But after starting the search button, the reply was that there is no upgrade available.
Only manual upgrade is possible.
Why? Does anybody have an idea?
Most likely I would suspect a networking/internet/firewall issue preventing the Pearl from retrieving the update. If you email us at info@epiphan.com we can easily provide an offline update for cases like this.
If you would like to resolve the issue, make sure the “Enable connection to maintenance server” is enabled on the Maintenance page. Also make sure the server address is set to epiphany.epiphan.com and the port is 30. If these are set correctly then you would be running into an external problem, next best thing to test would be performing pings on the Network page. Try epiphan.com, if this does not resolve try 8.8.8.8. If 8.8.8.8 is successful but epiphan.com is not this indicated a DNS issue. If neither are successful this indicates there is no internet access at all. If both are successful then you likely have a firewall issue.
