Epiphan pearl-mini formatting sd-card

i have a new epiphan pearl-mini.
the sd-card can not format.
quick or normal format does´nt work.

the card is a SanDisc 64 GB class 10

Did you install the SD card while the Pearl Mini was shutdown? Please note that hotswapping of the card isn’t supported. The card is only detected on a bootup, so I would suggest rebooting the Pearl Mini.

Yes i rebooted the Mini with inserted card.
The card is detected, but i can´t format this.

It may be that there is an issue with the existing partitions on the SD card causing the Pearl Mini to not detect it properly. I would recommend you first format the card on Windows, then on the Pearl Mini it should be detected as an incompatible file system and you can reformat here.

Helllo,

i fixed the problem with help from fa. TELTEC-Berlin.
The Solution is:

we used a windows-PC at the Ethernet-Port and the card can format.
My MAC blocked obviously this procedure.

It isn´t a problem of card-size or clean card.

Hello,

I have a new problem with a Epiphan Pearl.
A student recorded many lectures from his professor.
This are recorder-Files with 4 channels.

If he download this file, the length is only 10sec. (Original 83min)

I try it again, the same result.
Addidional i can´t extract the channels.

What could we do?
Have you a disk restore procedure?

Thanks, Jörg Schulze

What are you using to play this file back? A 10GB file may pose compatibility issues, I would recommend trying VLC media player: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Hello,

thanks for the answer.

3 additional questions:

  • i can´t also extract the recorder-file (15 GB = 4 channel / 3,7 GB per channel)
  • i can´t download the single channel with 4 GB
  • what ist the result after disc-check: 9,1% non contiguous

Are you using a Mac? If so it can’t extract files over 4GB. Instead of checking the boxes beside the files then downloading them as a zip file, I would recommend clicking on each file individually to save it. This way there is no zip file and no compatibility issue.

Hello,

Yes i hav e a MAC and i know that all.
We have 3 Pearl since many years.
This phenomen is new.

i check this procedure tomorrow again.

Can you tell me: what meens disc-check: 9,1% non contiguous?

joerg.schulze@cms.hu-berlin.de

Contiguous means immediately adjacent. For example, contiguous sectors on a disk are sectors that come one after the other. Frequently, a file stored on disk can become fragmented, which means that it is stored on non-contiguous sectors. This isn’t a problem though and is normal.
