Canon eos5d / 6d

Hi, guys, I was trying to set up the Canon EOS5D / 6D and still having troubles with them - no HDMI signal. Have anyone of you successfully connected them? The thing is I have used a reduction from HDMI mini to HDMI, not a cable HDMI mini - HDMI… Could this be causing the issue? Thank you for your answer

From what we have seen in our own testing and info online, most versions of the 5D/6D have mixed support for the HDMI output, often this mean it does no do Live or clean or with audio.
From what I have seen, this is true for any versions previous to the MK IV.
Which generation do you have?

Using an HDMI Mini to full size HDMI adapter instead of a cable should not matter at all.

One quick test you can do for the video is to connect it to a TV and see if you get video and audio there. The TV may also be able to tell you if you’re getting a 1080p, 720p, or other video signal. Remember that Webcaster X2 needs a progressive (non-interlaced) signal at 1920x1080 or 1280x720.

As far as I know the Canon DSLRs (including my 700D) onl output 1080i59,94 and some TVs take that as 1080psf29.97. If you have access to a scaler like the Decimator MD-HX you should be able to bring the signal of the canon into the Webcaster X2

5d mark iii and 6d mark 1 will output to 24p, 30p and 60i, it’s selectable in the menu. BUT they won’t get audio from HDMI, so it’s useless for most uses
5d mark iv, 6d mark ii and 1dx mark ii will get also 24p, 30p and 60i WITH AUDIO

I HAVE A 6DMKII and it doesnt do live sound any help here would be great

Canon DSLR cameras unfortunately do not output live audio over HDMI. Audio is only present with recorded video playback

sucks they have all the ability and don’t do simple things like that
