AV.io SDI screen tearing on diagonal lines

I am experiencing strange video artifacts/tearing on diagonal lines with my av.io SDI.
Other capturecards don’t produce this tearing effect. Here’s my signal chain:

Atem 4 M/E broadcast studio 4K (1080 50p signal) —> AV.io SDI —> Vmix

Here’s a sample picture of the problem:

This issue at first glance looks like banding caused by interlaced to progressive video conversion. Unfortunately this image size is small and only speculative at this time. I would recommend reaching out to us at info@epiphan.com with more details about the signal chain, screenshots of the specific settings used on the ATEM as well as any details on the signal chain, including any adapters, extenders, converters and what troubleshooting steps have been tried without success, so that we can better troubleshoot your issue

I’ve been running into diagonal screen tearing when using the AV.io SDI capture device, especially noticeable along diagonal lines in the video feed. It makes edges look jagged and breaks up the image during motion. I’ve tried adjusting capture settings and frame rates, but the issue still shows up. Has anyone managed to solve this or found specific settings that help?

Hello Isabella - are you using the AVioSDI or AVioSDI+ ? The + model has a 3.5 mm input.

As suggested previously by Mat, this looks like some kind of banding, potentially interlaced → progressive conversion. It might also be a scaling artifact, where the input resolution ≠ computer program requested resolution.

If that is the case, the AVio will scale at the output to the requested resolution specified in your computer program. You could try matching the resolution output by your source (seen at the bottom of the AVio configuration tool) in your capture program settings.
