Set VGA modes
The VGA Modes page lets you configure the VGA modes used for analog video capture.
You can access this screen by selecting Capture » Configure Device » VGA Modes or using the Epiphan applet in the Control Panel by selecting the video grabber you'd like to configure and clicking Configure Device or Default Configuration.
The video grabber supports many common VGA modes out of the box. If however you wish to capture from a custom VGA source (i.e. custom resolution or timing) you can add that here. You can also uncheck any VGA modes you'd prefer the video grabber doesn't try to use when tuning the capture parameters for your source.
To add a custom VGA video mode:
- Launch the Epiphan Capture Tool.
- Select the Capture » Configure Device menu item; the configure dialog appears.
- Select the VGA Modes tab.
- Click the plus button to add a custom mode; the custom mode dialog opens.
- Specify your custom frame size in the Horizontal pixels and Vertical lines fields.
- Specify the Refresh rate for your source and indicate whether it is interlaced or needs reduced blanking.
- If your source uses non-customary timing, uncheck Standard VESA timings; a set of technical timing details appears. Fill in your custom timing values. (If you don't know the timing values for your source, use the standard VESA timings and make minor image tweaks using the Adjustments tab of the Configure Device dialog.)
